Current Queens
Meet the Gorgeous Girls. We select which kittens to keep as future Queens with great care. The kitten must be robust, with the right temperament for the job. Our queens are limited to typically 4 litters, with plenty of time off to recover, after which time they will retire and enjoy the rest of their life with our cat family, in some cases we re-home retired queens if they would be suitable as household pets and would benefit from this
Retired Queens
Noynarock Marta
Marta is quite aloof and keeps to herself.....unless she was expecting. We laughed at how she changed. She has been a super successful Queen for us, having the Pudding litter, Music Composers and Milly Molly Mandy litter.Â
She has finished her time as Queen with our latest, IKEA litter
StrangrFjordr Guinevere
Guinevere has since found a lovely new home. She was one of Fionn and Liesl’s kittens that we kept. She must have been our biggest girl in the Cattery. Her coat was fabulous all year round, not just her winter coat. One of her litters was born in Easter 2021, which named Lindt & Lindor, the Chocolates !!
FAQ
Are your cats vaccinated and tested?
Yes, all our cats are vaccinated and genetically tested.
We are very fortunate to have a wonderful Veterinary clinic just five minutes from the Cottage on the Peninsula. All the staff know us and are so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Michael, the vet, is so patient with the kittens. On our first visit, he was absolutely astounded when after giving the first kitten his Vaccine, he set him on the floor to play for a bit, but the kitten just jumped back up! He thought he would know which kitten had been examined if he lifted them one by one out of the carrier and then set on the floor. Not Norwegian Forest kittens, they are climbers and even at eight weeks can jump from the floor to the counter with ease!
Our Cats are regularly vaccinated for the following:
Feline calicivirus (FCV), Feline herpes virus type 1 (FHV), Feline panleucopenia virus (FPLV).
Feline leukaemia-virus viraemia Feline leucosis.
*Our Breeding Cats are also genetically tested before registered as Active with GCCF - the new requirement for NF Cat breeders.
GSD IV (Glycogen Storage Disease) & PK Def (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency)
Samples taken by the Vet, are sent to Langford vets Diagnostic Laboratories in Bristol and all results have come back as normal n/n.
How often do your queens have litters?
We believe a healthy and happy cat will produce happy and healthy kittens. For this reason we limit our queens to 4 litters, with a year off in between.
What age do the queens start breeding?
Once we are confident they are healthy and happy, this takes into important factors such as vet checkups, up to date vaccinations, reaching the correct level of maturity and that all the GCCF standards are met prior to breeding. Fortunately we have plenty of experienced hands and paws to help during each step of the process
